Quicken files don't sync through the cloud like modern programs like Pages, so the data I entered into the MacBook since I bought the iMac (about 6 months of data) is lost. The icon is still in the dock, but the files won't open and when I try to restore them from time machine nothing happens. When I did the same thing a week later on the MacBook, When I went from el capitan to sierra on the iMac, quicken 2007 survived and functions fine. I have two mac's, a late 2015 iMac and a mid-2012 MacBook air. So I at least will need a robust way to back up this information locally, or really, I prefer a desktop version for this.

Ok, Internet - what competing small business/personal finance software packages do you like? I know much of this is heading the Cloud, yet I am old school enough to be nervous about handing accounting records off to someplace nebulous. This is not an easy decision to make - did I mention the 31 years of data? Visualize the two words I'm saying to Intuit out loud right now.the first one is four letters beginning with F.
QUICKEN 2007 FOR MAC COMPATIBLE WITH MAVERICKS UPDATE
The nonprofit is now forced to update Quickbooks, but I am going to do my best to make sure this is the last time Intuit gets any money from me or my clients. Last May Intuit spun off Quicken to a private equity group so we may be waiting years for a useable update, who knows? For now."it's dead, Jim". At least I found that out before updating my personal Mac. I am still using the last functional version of Quicken for Mac, from 2007 - all subsequent versions released by Intuit for the last 10 years were crippled, badly rewritten, and unusable since they lack important basic features in the 2007 version which Sierra also breaks. I clearly cannot update my personal Mac to Sierra until I find a substitute for 31 years of Quicken personal finance data. Looking online, there is no workable update for Quicken, either. I hope some professor will note this for the Business Ethics class.

I'm sure that must have come as a complete surprise to the executives at Intuit - Apple upgrading their OS? Who knew that would happen? Or d'ya think they waited to announce this on purpose?Ĭalling their customer service line, after 20 minutes on hold I reached a snarky rep who told me the only thing to do was to pay them - the company takes no responsibility for this whatsoever, it just wants your money. This morning (one week late) Intuit sent out an email announcing that all their customers have to update to Quickbooks for Mac 2016 to use Sierra. Now Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2015 will no longer function. I installed it yesterday on our nonprofit's computer.
